Septic System Design, Site Evaluation & Soil Testing in Minnesota's Lakes Area
From the first soil boring to a permit-ready design and installation plan — a septic system designer who knows Otter Tail County soils and shoreland rules.

Site evaluation & soil testing come first
Every good septic design starts in the dirt. We perform the site evaluation — soil borings, texture and structure classification, redoximorphic features, depth to saturated soil or bedrock, slope and setbacks — and use that data to determine what your property can actually support.
That evaluation drives everything after it: system type, sizing, placement and cost. Getting it right up front is the difference between a design the county approves the first time and a project that stalls.
System types we design
Matched to your soils, your lot and how you use the property — not to whatever is easiest to install.
Mound septic system
The workhorse of lake country. When soils are shallow or the water table is high, a mound system builds the treatment media above grade to achieve required vertical separation.
Sand filter system
A pressurized sand filter treats effluent before it reaches the soil, making it a strong fit for tight lots and sites with limited soil depth.
Aerobic treatment unit (ATU)
An aerobic septic system introduces oxygen to speed up treatment, producing high-quality effluent where site constraints or shoreland rules demand it.
Conventional trench & at-grade
Where soils cooperate, a properly sized conventional drainfield is still the simplest, most durable, most affordable answer.
Residential septic design
Cabins, year-round homes, additions and bedroom counts that changed since the original permit — designs sized for how the property is actually used.
Commercial septic design
Resorts, shops, event venues and multi-unit properties, with flow calculations and treatment sized to the real load.
Installation planning & property consulting
A design is only useful if it can be built. We produce permit-ready drawings and specifications, coordinate with your county inspector and installer, and stay available through construction so questions get answered on the spot rather than by change order.
Thinking about buying raw land or splitting a lot? Property consulting before you close tells you whether a compliant septic system will fit, where it has to go, and what it will realistically cost — information that can change what the property is worth to you.
